A drunk Tom Tucker is on the news, informing them that there is a free dirtbike. Peter takes in interest in it and wins it and starts using it. He even uses it at a baseball game to play the national anthem. Chris and Meg check out the dirtbike and ride it around town. Chris jumps over a fire hydrant and they crash the dirtbike. The parents are mad at the kids, and Peter blames it mostly on Chris and even gets him to smoke cigarettes, which happens to like them. Chris and Meg think their parents have it easy, and Peter and Lois beg to differ, so in order to teach them a lesson, they all trade roles. Chris goes to work at the brewery while Meg runs the house. While things start off well, it�s not long until the stress of running a household and being the sole breadwinner break down Chris and Meg.

When Bonnie goes out of town, Meg offers to check in on Joe, but she soon becomes a little too involved and starts freaking everyone out  especially Joe. Meanwhile, Stewie thinks hes losing his edge as the toughest baby on the block, so he hooks himself up to a machine that is supposed to make him more evil than ever before.

On the search to find Chris a new hobby, he along with his father, begin collecting stamps and drinking, but Chris is amazed by neither. He soon discovers a puppet shop, however, with the shop’s owner, Franz Gutentag (“good day”), quickly befriending him. The two bond over the puppets, creating their own puppets and stories, but Herbert discovers their relationship and tries to break it up. Herbert confronts Peter, telling him that Franz is a Nazi named Franz Schlechtnacht (“bad night”), whom he had met during World War II in a concentration camp. Peter and Lois are reluctant to believe Herbert, and decide to invite Franz to dinner. The next day, Chris visits Franz, and questions whether or not he is a Nazi.

Peter and Brian are forced to attend a 12-step meeting.

Lois becomes friends with Joyce Kinney, the new television news co-anchor, but Kinney eventually airs a news story on Lois portraying her in a negative way

While at the Drunken Clam, Peter, Quagmire and Joe begin drinking beer, and discussing various subjects. Peter is then introduced to the energy drink Red Bull which causes him to become addicted to the drink. Returning home, he begins acting extremely hyperactive, and soon becomes a nuisance to the family, including his wife, Lois, who gets rid of the drinks. Reluctant to give up the Red Bull, he decides to make his own beverage out of kerosene, which causes him to collapse. Being immediately taken to the hospital to assess his condition, it is discovered that Peter is in need of a new kidney, after suffering kidney failure.

As the family writes their Christmas lists, Brian and Stewie decide to go to the local mall to see Santa Claus. The line is extremely long, and the two decide to cut Quagmire instead. Brian inadvertently insults Quagmire’s niece, however, causing them to go to the back of the line once more. Once reaching Santa, Stewie attempts to bribe him, but is too late, and Santa decides to go on a break. Dispondent, Stewie decides to head to the North Pole to get his revenge, with Brian reluctantly agreeing. Attempting to trick Stewie, he brings him to a nearby North Pole-themed amusement park. Soon discovering his charade, Stewie threatens to shoot Brian with his laser if he does not take him to the real North Pole. Not knowing why he wants to go the North Pole so badly, Brian questions his intentions, with Stewie revealing his intention to kill Santa.

Receiving hundreds of packages in the mail containing his failed novel Faster Than the Speed of Love, Brian becomes despondent, and refuses to write any longer. Reading the newspaper later that day, Brian discovers a self-help novel has made it to the best seller list, and after some coaxing by Stewie, he decides to write his own. Naming it Wish It Want It Do It Brian publishes the book, and it immediately becomes much more successful than his previous novel. Deciding to hire Stewie as his publicist, Brian begins a press tour on the local news, and sign books, while attempting to get a date. Going to dinner later that night with Stewie, Brian begins reflecting on his newfound fame, and becomes angered at Stewie when he messes up his dinner reservations. Leaving Stewie to return to the hotel on his own, he seeks to repair his relationship with Brian and books him on the talk show Real Time with Bill Maher.

Announcing his excitement for his upcoming birthday, Peter eagerly awaits to receive his gifts. After receiving a birthday card from Cleveland, the group decides to go to the local boxing club, where Peter’s wife, Lois, is volunteered to participate in a fight. Easily beating her competition, the club owner suggests she become a professional boxer. Unable to understand how she won the fight, Lois becomes reluctant to fight anyone else. After some coaxing by Peter, who takes her blindfolded to the boxing club, Lois becomes angered at him for tricking her, and eventually causes her to win the fight. Returning home, Lois begins taking boxing seriously, and starts working out. Continued to be angered by Peter, Lois aspires to be a championship boxer, and eventually becomes the top-ranked boxer in Quahog. During a fight, however, Lois accidentally breaks her nose, causing her to become reluctant to fight any longer. Going on to reveal that the only reason she fought was because of her hatred of her husband’s obsession with boxing, Lois and Peter agree to end her career, and go into retirement.

Revealing to his family that Quagmire will be the target of his Halloween pranks, Peter along with his neighbor Joe, begin torturing Quagmire with various gags, including infecting him with an unknown disease from Senegal. Returning home, Peter praises Quagmire for being a good sport and the two decide to go drinking. Deciding to approach Joe, they convince him to allow them to follow him in his police car. Agreeing to do so only if they stay in his car, Peter and Quagmire soon become a nuisance, before ultimately driving to an old airfield where they discover a fighter plane. Going on to take Peter and Joe on a ride, Quagmire flies the two into the sky, and eventually takes them on a high speed dive into the ocean near Quahog Harbor in order to pay them back for all his pranks and stopping only inches from crashing.
